Reception by our guide at the estimated time at the port of Tanger Airport and we begin our way to Chefchaouen or Chaouen as many call it, located in the intercontinental natural park declared a biosphere nature reserve. On the second day of our 7-day desert journey from Tangier to Marrakech, we will leave the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen and travel to Fez, the oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities and home to one of the world’s most ancient universities. Along the way, we’ll explore the remarkably well-preserved Roman ruins of Volubilis and enjoy a panoramic view of the sacred town of Moulay Idriss, where we will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Fez and take in the sunset while exploring the medina’s historic gates and walls. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a traditional Riad.
After breakfast, we’ll leave Fez and head south through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop will be in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and clean, green surroundings. We’ll then continue to the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where you may spot wild Barbary macaques among the ancient trees. As we travel through the mountains, you’ll enjoy stunning landscapes, Berber villages, and peaceful valleys. In the afternoon, we’ll reach Midelt, a quiet town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas ranges, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night in a comfortable hotel or guesthouse.
After breakfast, we continue our journey south through the spectacular landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the Ziz Valley, famous for its lush palm groves and dramatic gorges. Along the way, we’ll stop to admire panoramic views and take in the natural beauty of the region. We’ll arrive in Erfoud, known as the gateway to the Sahara and famous for its fossil workshops and date market. From there, we head towards Merzouga, a small desert village on the edge of the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to relax before enjoying a camel ride into the golden dunes at sunset. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a desert camp, under the stars, with traditional music around the fire.
Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the Sahara dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Afterward, we’ll ride camels or drive back to Merzouga and begin our journey toward the Todra Gorges. Our first stop will be in Rissani, a historic town known for its authentic souk (traditional market) and as the birthplace of Morocco’s ruling dynasty. You’ll have time to explore the vibrant market before continuing through stunning desert and mountain landscapes. We’ll then visit the breathtaking Todra Gorges, a paradise for climbers with its towering rock walls and flowing river. After some time to walk and take photos, we’ll continue to the beautiful Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and lush palm groves. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a local hotel or guesthouse in the valley.

Our first stop is the Valley of Roses, famous for its fragrant rose fields and traditional rose products. Depending on the season, you may see locals harvesting the blooms or visit a local cooperative. We then continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Morocco,” where you can see the exterior of the famous Atlas Studios and the Taourirt Kasbah.
From there, we begin our scenic drive over the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the impressive Tizi n’Tichka Pass with stunning views along the way. By late afternoon or evening, we arrive in Marrakech, where you’ll settle into your accommodation for the night.
