Marrakech Weather: Best Months for Exploring the Red City

You can expect Marrakech’s weather to hit its highest temperatures in the summer. By midday, you’ll want to head indoors and enjoy a slower afternoon after a morning of sightseeing before the heat rises. 

These temperatures can make it harder to plan a cohesive itinerary, especially if you’re only in the city for a few days. It’s best to take advantage of the cooler temperatures in the morning to tick off any outdoor activities in your schedule.

If you struggle with hotter temperatures, the shoulder seasons of spring and autumn are the best months for exploring Marrakech. July and August see average daily temperatures of 30°C/86°F. By comparison, May and October have daily temperatures that are closer to 23°C/73°F.

Fes Weather: Cooler Winters, Hot Summers & Cultural Travel

Fes weather sees more moderate temperatures throughout the year. August is typically the hottest month, with January being the coldest. November to April covers the rainy season in Fes, although you’re unlikely to see rain every day during a winter vacation in Morocco. 

With its bustling souks and tourist attractions like Bab Bou Jeloud and the Al-Attarine Madrasa, Fes is best experienced in spring or autumn if you want to take part in a walking tour. 

Fes offers an intricate maze of cultural immersion, giving you a chance to experience Morocco’s history, cuisine, and ancestral traditions. The cooler winters are the perfect opportunity to explore Fez on foot, with tourist attractions like the Dar Batha Museum providing both indoor and outdoor experiences.

Chefchaouen Weather: Best Time to Visit Morocco’s Blue City

Chefchaouen is where you’ll want to visit in Morocco if you prefer to take things a little slower. It’s a great alternative to Marrakech for a honeymoon itinerary with a mountain climate that brings misty winters and summer temperatures of up to 30°C/86°F. 

Nicknamed the “Blue City”, Chefchaouen is a small city in the Rif Mountains that is a popular spot for photography enthusiasts and weekend getaways. One of the prettiest places in Morocco, the city’s artistic personality is everywhere you look, attracting backpackers, couples, and travellers searching for a wellness escape.

Sahara Desert Weather: What Travellers Should Really Expect

When you think of the Sahara Desert weather, it’s easy to immediately picture a dry climate with uncomfortably hot temperatures. While this is true for summer desert tours, desert nights surprise most first-time tourists to Morocco. 

You can expect to experience high temperature swings from day to night, even during the summer. Temperatures will usually drop after sunset, which is worth considering if you’re planning a camel trek or an overnight stay under the stars in a nomad tent. Winter offers the best viewing opportunities for stargazing, but it’s also when you can expect the lowest temperatures. 

Atlas Mountains Weather: Hiking, Snow & Seasonal Beauty

The Atlas Mountains are the top destination in Morocco if you’re planning an adrenaline-fuelled vacation. This region has an elevation-driven climate, so it’s warm and dry at the base, while you can expect snow and freezing temperatures at the highest peaks. 

Spring is when this snow will start to melt, making March to May the best time to go hiking in Morocco. Alternatively, the summer months are also suitable for exploring the Atlas Mountains as the peaks will see cooler temperatures than the valleys.
