Your day by day itinerary
Day 1 Casablanca Arrivel
As you land in the airport in your Morocco tour from Casablanca begin, you’ll be full of anticipation for the coming 13 days Private Morocco Seniors Tour of all-you-can-imagine adventure in Morocco. The full realization of your trip might only sink in when you see your welcoming driver waiting for you. The driver is part of what makes Inner Morocco different. He’ll take you to your hotel to get settled in.
If arrival time permits, you’ll then get to go see the Hassan II, one of the largest mosques in the world. The mosque will awe you with its size and incredible architecture.
From the outside, you’ll inhale the salty ocean air and be transfixed by the 210-meter exquisite minaret. The mosque sits over the Atlantic Ocean because King Hassan II considered God’s throne to be on the water. You’ll be able to see the meticulously designed interior during your guided tour. This is a building of which Casablanca can be proud, and you’ll be glad to have seen.
Day 2 Casablanca / Rabat / Chefchaouen
After breakfast, you will leave towards Chefchaouen, the famous blue city of Morocco in the Rif Mountains. On route, you will stop at Rabat, the capital city and residence of the King, for lunch and a time to enjoy the beautiful coastal city. After lunch you will continue on to Chefchaouen for the night. Dinner will be served in the hotel. Chefchaouen is also one of the highlights featured in tours
Day 3 Chefchaouen
You’ll devote the entire day to exploring this blue town tucked away in the mountains. You’ll be able to wander through the enchanting streets and feast your eyes on the color all around you! No matter what your level of experience with photography is, this town will be heaven for you! Our past photography clients have LOVED shooting pictures in this artsy setting. Stop for delicious fresh bread, Chefchaouen fish tagine and hot mint tea as you tour this town. You’ll enjoy shopping in the small souks. Chefchaouen is especially well known for its leather goods. Hear about the fascinating history of this town from your guide or take a hike in the breezy mountains!
Day 4 Chefchaouen /Volubilis / Meknes / Fes
Because of its unique beauty, Chefchaouen is a hard town to leave. Fortunately, the next stops are just as interesting! After breakfast, you’ll head to Meknes. Along the way, you’ll stop at the ancient ruins of Volubillis. Take a step back in time as you are guided through these 2,000-year-old Roman ruins…
Set in front of green hills, this once busy Roman town is now an incredible historical site that gives a glimpse into the past. Your guide will explain the significance of each building, making this stop the most engaging history lesson you’ve ever had. You’ll then head to Meknes, an imperial city and UNESCO world heritage site. Stop for lunch there—ask your driver where his favorite stop is! We think lunch is always more delicious when it’s taken at a local stop. From Meknes, you will drive to Fes. Fes is brimming with tradition and stories if you take the time to observe them. Don’t forget to try the spicy olives sold on the side of the road—be adventurous, this is your special trip!
After breakfast you will begin your guided tour of the medina, one of the world’s largest walled in cities. You will explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco. The Kings Palace, the tanneries, and pottery shops are just a few places you will experience. For lunch you will eat in traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina. After lunch you will complete the tour and return to your hotel for the evening.
Day 6 Fes / Middle Atlas / Erfoud
After an early breakfast you will begin your ascent across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Most of the day will be spent winding your way through the beautiful forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as you cross the Atlas Mountains and begin to descend towards the Sahara Desert. Half way, you will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks. On arrival at the Kasbah in Erfoud, a hot shower or dip in the swimming pool (depending on the weather) will be a treat after the drive. Dinner will be served at the Kasbah.
Day 7 Erfoud- Sahara Desert
After a leisurely breakfast, you will explore the small desert towns of Erfoud and Rissani. In the afternoon, you will head off in some 4-wheel drive vehicles across the barren land to the majestic Sahara sand dunes. You will set off by camel for a 1/2-hour trek out onto the dunes to watch the sunset. You will then spend the night in deluxe Berber tents. ***Returning to the hotel to sleep is an option if you would prefer hotel to tent***
Dinner will be served in the camp!
Day 8 Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, you will return by camel to the 4x4s and head to Erfoud. From Erfoud you set out behind the High Atlas Mountains on route to Ouarzazate via the Todra Gorges. If you wish, you can take a walk up in the towering Todra Gorges (600 feet high). The picturesque river valleys make for a beautiful journey towards the southeast of Morocco.
Day 9 Ouarzazate / Ait Benhaddou / Marrakech
After breakfast, you will head off towards Marrakech. On the way you will visit one of the jewels of Morocco…Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. In typical Moroccan fashion, the true treasures must be searched out and discovered…usually off the beaten path. In actuality, this setting has been used for more films than any other location in Morocco; films including, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and The Gladiator.
After your visit to this famous Kasbah, you will complete the drive over the High Atlas Mountains. Once in Marrakech, you will check into your riad and then head off to the Jemaa el-Fna, the center square of the medina. The famous Jemaa el-Fna, is one of the center attractions of Marrakech. Coming alive at night with the local storytellers, entertainers, and mouth-watering barbeque pits, the square is well worth a visit. A quiet cup of tea on the terrace of an adjacent café provides a spectacular aerial view of the bustling square. Dinner will be served at the riad.
Day 10 Marrakech Guided Tour
After breakfast, you will enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech, the southern pearl of Morocco. You will discover the Palace of the Bahia, the Saadian Tombs, and many other hidden treasures. After lunch, you will continue with the tour on to the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the famous Djemaa el-Fna, one of the center attractions of Marrakech. The tour will conclude with an exploration of the souk (market) lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets and many other art objects of Morocco. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant.
Day 11 Marrakech
After breakfast, you will enjoy a free morning in Marrakech to relax and explore. You may like to try a cooking class (USD$80 per person, must be arranged in advance) or visiting the lovely Marjorelle Gardens. After lunch and at your convenience, you will drive to Casablanca and check into your hotel. Dinner will be served at Casablanca’s famous restaurant, Rick’s Café! Enjoy your final evening in Morocco!
Day 12 Marrakech/ Casablanca
After breakfast, you will enjoy a free morning in Marrakech to relax and explore. You may like to try a cooking class or to visit the lovely Marjorelle Gardens & Museum! After lunch and at your convenience, you will drive to Casablanca and check into your hotel.
Day 13: Casablanca Departure
Farewell to Morocco as you transfer to the airport for your departure, taking with you unforgettable memories of your 13-day private Morocco Seniors Tour.
